FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 5, 2009 Portland, Ore. –From pitch to goal, NEMO wins as agency of record for the Portland Timbers. The Portland Timbers selected NEMO to deliver creative services during the 2010 USL season, and the inaugural MLS 2011 season. Several agencies participated in the pitch to introduce MLS to Portland. NEMO was chosen for their innovative planning, visionary creative approach, and deep connection to sports.

Since 1999, NEMO has built its reputation in youth marketing. The firm has produced world-class work in the sports category for Nike 6.0, Smith Optics, MasterCraft, Bell Helmets, Globe Bicycles, STX Lacrosse, Nike Soccer, ESPN, FUEL TV and the Portland Lumberjax.

Portland Timbers owner Merritt Paulson commented, “We’re looking forward to launching the new MLS Portland Timbers in 2011, and we’re excited to be working with a top creative partner in the process. NEMO understands the voice of the Timbers and we’ve got great things planned to engage Timbers fans and our community with the team.”

NEMO’s work with the Portland Timbers has already kicked off with the launch of www.portlandmls2011.com. The interactive project engages fans and the greater community as the Timbers charge into their inaugural 2011 season.

“I’m excited for what this partnership will bring to both sides,” NEMO co-founder and general manager Trevor Graves said. “This is a big win for us as we had to compete with Portland’s best creative agencies in the pitch process. We’re honored to have been selected as the Timbers creative partner. This is a great fit for us. It’s a national client on a global playing field, right in our backyard – which gives us the opportunity to experience the product and build community on a local level.”

OFF THE CLOCK
Artwork by Nate Silverstein and Andrea Paustenbaugh (N +A)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Portland, Ore – September 17, 2009 – Nemo presents the work of Nate Silverstein and Andrea Paustenbaugh in Off The Clock, curated by NEMO opening Friday, October 2, 2009 6-10pm. The show will run through Friday, October 30, 2009 at Nemo- 1875 SE Belmont Street in Portland, OR.

Opening reception will include special musical guests.

Off The Clock is a collection of work collaboratively created by photographer Nate Silverstein and designer Andrea Paustenbaugh (N + A). In conjunction with the opening the duo will be launching four new books they have created with BOOKBOOKPRESS.

About Nate Silverstein ( http://www.natesilverstein.com/ )
Like most people who graduate from high school, Nate attended college. After a short time Nate left Portland State University for a better education as an apprentice for Trevor Graves. After a few years, Nate left for New York City to study at the School of Visual Arts. After leaving SVA, Nate entitled himself to an honorary degree: a BS in Art. Today Nate gets up drinks some coffee, lives to create, then does it over again, no institution needed or required.

About Andrea Paustenbaugh ( http://venetiapluto.com/ )
Andrea graduated valedictorian from the school of hard knocks, floating on a full ride endowment courtesy of the inventor of the barcode. After, she packed her vintage suitcases heading back and forth across the country. Daily she continues her exploration as an artist, teacher / student, designer, and life long inventor, sticking to her personal motto, “rules are for other people.” Like a firecracker
she is quick, loud and will burn you if you hesitate.

About N + A ( http://www.happenstantialism.com/ )
More a combination than collaboration: N + A is a hybrid artist taking on the personality of two people. This open-to-anything free for all is tempered by a shared perspective of living art, everyday. In this equation, the burdens of individualism are halved by a shared commitment to taking on each step of the process as fully as possible. N + A is a solution machine, reaching far beyond the obvious, activating a belief in more than the naked eye can see.

BOOKBOOKPRESS ( http://www.bookbookpress.com/ ) Bookbookpress operates null to hypothesis—all possibilities and processes are embraced. Artist editions to commercial projects are tackled. Bookbookpress is a continuous adventure in publishing—all ideas are welcome.

PORTLAND LOOKING UP
Artwork by Chris Donnelly

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Portland, Ore.- July 20, 2009 – Nemo presents the work of Chris Donnelly in Portland Looking Up, curated by NEMO opening Friday, August 7, 2009 6-10pm. The show will run through Monday, August 31, 2009 at Nemo- 1875 SE Belmont Street in Portland, OR.

Opening reception will include special musical guests.

Portland Looking Up will highlight Chris Donnelly’s work of paintings and carvings. The exhibit will focus on Donnelly’s travels through Portland, where he became captivated by the shapes of the industrial water towers, and their contrast to the neighborhoods below.

About Chris Donnelly
Chris Donnelly grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Unlike many kids, crayons, paints, and art classes were not a big part of his experience. As an adult, he started carving and painting fishing lures from wood. His unique pieces quickly became collectible. Having developed a basic mastery of hand tools, his desire to express a more personal sentiment shifted his focus to carving human figures. Hundreds of figures later, Chris began exploring flat surfaces by carving linoleum block prints and recently evolved into painting on canvas. Still self-taught, Chris’ first paintings depicted people from his experiences. Elements of Portland’s urban landscape have been his recent focus.

Chris has been represented by Virginia Brier in San Francisco and Mark Miliken in New York City. His pieces were part of a collection of work by self-taught artists at the Palmer Museum of Art at Pennsylvania State University. His work has been shown at the Washington Street Gallery in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He will be part of a group show at Review Gallery in Detroit, Michigan later this year.

About Portland Looking Up
Discovering Portland by bicycle last summer, Chris was captivated by the shapes quietly looming overhead. Like floating ships or low-tech space ships at rest just above the neighborhoods, these water towers have a presence. As if monuments from a bygone era, they fade into the landscape despite their size and visibility. These giant vessels venerate our most precious resource. The striking blue sky of Portland summer provides the backdrop for these strong shapes. While strong and industrial looking, their round shapes and patina create a friendly character. Painting these pictures helped Chris get to know Portland.
